The law firm of Jaspers, Moriarty & Wetherille, P.A., is very proud to announce that on August 14, 2026, attorneys Jim Conway and Kevin Wetherille in our office were presented with the Amicus Curiae award by the judges of the Minnesota First Judicial District. This award was presented due to the work Kevin and Jim did over three years in advocating for the mentally ill in need of treatment that languish in Minnesota jails. After three years of litigation, Kevin and Jim successfully obtained decisions from the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court affirming the right to prompt mental health treatment and the obligation of Minnesota counties to pay lawyers to represent these most vulnerable in our state. Kevin and Jim took on the State of Minnesota and Scott County, and won.
We are so proud of these two lawyers for taking on this fight and standing up for the rights of the most vulnerable in our society. Congratulations to Kevin and Jim!
