Kevin Wetherille grew up in Shakopee, graduating from Shakopee Senior High School in 1996. Following high school, Kevin attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota where he majored in History, with a particular focus on United States and Native American history. After obtaining a B.A. degree from Carleton in 2000, Kevin attended William Mitchell College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 2003.   

Kevin began working with Jaspers, Moriarty & Walburg during law school as a Law Clerk. After spending over 2 years clerking with Jaspers, Moriarty & Walburg, the firm hired Kevin as an associate following his admission to the bar in 2003. Kevin was named a shareholder in Jaspers, Moriarty & Walburg in 2007.  Kevin became the firm CEO/Managing Partner in 2014. Currently, Kevin resides in Shakopee, Minnesota with his wife and their three children.

A significant portion of Kevin's practice is devoted to litigation in the areas of Civil Litigation, Probate Law, Family Law as well as more transactional areas of practice such as Estate Planning and Real Estate.

Notable Experience

  • Practiced in a general practice law firm since 2003. Approximately 30% of practice is family law (dissolution, asset/debt division, custody/paternity, child protection, child support, order for protection). Remaining practice areas include contested and uncontested probate matters (both as counsel and as court-appointed personal representative) – 15%; general civil litigation – 15%; juvenile/adult criminal defense – 5%; real estate – 15%; corporate/business – 15%; and miscellaneous other – 5%.
  • Extensive civil and family court trial experience. Criminal jury trial experience.
  • Served as counsel for personal representative or as personal representative in numerous probate matters since approximately 2005.
  • Trial and Appellate experience in the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Tribal Court in family court and probate court matters.
  • Appointed by First Judicial District Court Judges to serve as neutral third-party personal representative or receiver in multiple cases.
  • Majority of practice is before the Minnesota First Judicial District, particularly Scott, Dakota and Carver counties. Has appeared before courts in all metro area counties as well multiple rural counties in Minnesota.
  • Selected to the 2017 Super Lawyers Rising Stars List.
